Remington Typewriter Co. can be easily recognized as a major historic brand for typewriters and rightly so as Remington created the world’s first typewriter in the 1870s. It is worth mentioning that one of the earliest users of this company’s produced typewriter was the acclaimed author, Mark Twain himself. The early typewriters of Remington now fall under the category of antiques and are a favorite among passionate collectors due to the unique features employed by Remington in its earliest typewriters, a part of which is still actively used in modern day computers, namely the qwetry keyboard. The QWERTY layout was invented by Sholes and was featured in the first typewriter which was named after him, “The Sholes and Glidden Typewriter”. Secondly, the company’s manufactured typewriters assisted some of the greatest authors of all times, for instance, Agatha Christie, the world famous mystery novelist, the writer of the most beloved novel “Gone With The Wind”, Margaret Mitchell and Quentin Crisp. Clearly, these typewriters were all authors’ treasured possessions. Though, the Remington typewriters are now a thing of past, their patrimony is everlasting.

This small, red colored vintage Portable Typewriter, model Travel-riter of the legendary Remington and Co. belongs to the mid 1950s. The authentic typewriter is properly working, has all its keys intact, is reliable and quality assured.
