The world’s first portable gramophone that marked the major historic breakthrough in technology was manufactured by Barnett Samuel and Sons in the year 1914 and sold under the patented name “Decca”. The first gramophone produced by the company was capable of good quality sound reproduction along with the convenience of portability. The initial design consisted of a gramophone packed inside a suitcase, mostly covered in leather, which could be carried around easily. The earlier gramophones of Decca are now a part of antiques and collectibles.

This vintage portable gramophone, model Decca Junior, from the year 1926 was manufactured by Decca Gramophone Company. This authentic gramophone is packed in a leather covered wooden case which consists of a reflex sound disc placed in the lid and a sound box.
